Dale Okonow ( dokonow@watermill.com) returned to The Watermill Group in January 2009 as a Partner.  He is responsible for the day-to-day operations including oversight of all financial and operational functions at The Watermill Group.  Mr. Okonow’s responsibilities also include the negotiation and financing of Watermill’s acquisitions.

Prior to rejoining The Watermill Group, from 2001 to 2007 Mr. Okonow was a Partner, President and Chief Operating Officer of Sawyer Realty Holdings, LLC, a leading privately-held, fully-integrated US multifamily real estate investment and management firm where he was responsible for all of the day-to-day operations of the business, including property and asset management, acquisitions and related financing and divestitures.  Prior to joining Sawyer, Mr. Okonow served as General Counsel and Chief Financial Officer of HMK Enterprises, Inc. from 1988 to 1991, and then Managing Partner of Watermill Ventures from 1991 to 2001, where he was responsible for overseeing the acquisition, financing and operations of several diverse manufacturing and distribution businesses.  Prior to joining HMK Enterprises, Inc., Mr. Okonow was a practicing attorney with the law firm of Proskauer Rose LLP in New York City, where he worked as a corporate lawyer principally in the area of mergers and acquisitions and related financing.

Mr. Okonow serves on the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Greater Boston where he founded the Parkinson’s Family Support Program at that social services agency.  He also serves on the Hematology Oncology Visiting Committee of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, where he helped establish the Okonow/Lipton Family Lymphoma Research Fund.

He received a B.S. (with distinction) from Cornell University in 1978, and a J.D. (magna cum laude) and M.B.A. from Cornell University in 1983.  An avid Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots fan, Mr. Okonow is married with two children and enjoys playing golf and tennis, and coaching youth basketball and baseball teams.
